The sea was tranquil, warm near the top where the sun's rays had warmed it, cool as he sank further down into the depths. Dark in the night sky, barely reflecting the glimmers of moonlight; Radu turned and kicked, breaking the surface with a gasp. Treading water for another moment, he looked around him, looked at the blackness that stretched on forever in one direction, then at the beach where he had kicked off his shoes and walked into the waves without a thought for the expensive silks he was draped in.
They were ruined now: there is no way to salvage silk when it's been soaked for so long in sea water. A flick of his hand sent an arc of water splashing off to land silently in the sand. Radu bent and scooped up his shoes in one hand as he made his way up to the stone walls that lined the seashore, leaving a set of footprints that matched the set he created when he decided to come down for a visit.
Seating himself on the low wall, shoes dropped to the ground beside him, Radu drew one leg up to his chest and stared out over the water. It could be said his pose was a thoughtful one, but that would imply he was thinking. He wasn't. Instead, he let his mind wander, not really settling on any one thing.
A pair of slender arms wrapped around his shoulders, a weight draped across his back, and Radu stiffened, eyes widening in shock. "Good evening," the deceptively gentle voice purred, "And how are you today, my dear Baron?"
"I am not your anything," Radu hissed in return. His hands flexed with the urge to set this insolent Terran on fire.
Dietrich laughed, one hand shifting across Radu's front to wrap around Radu's neck; Radu froze. A nail scraped across his pulsepoint, a reminder of the dangers this man held, before it continued on its way up to cup Radu's chin. The pose forced Dietrich's weight further upon Radu's back even as his chin was grasped and turned. "Look, the Palace." Radu looked. "Someday, someday soon, Baron my Baron, we will destroy all that which it represents." And despite himself, Radu shuddered as he felt lips press in false affection to his hair.
